  1. Haydn's Concerto for Trumpet in E flat was a ground-breaking addition to the trumpet repertoire, although it is a typical example of a concerto from the Classical period. It has three movements.

  7. The major work on this disc is the Mozart. Why is the lesser and considerably shorter Trumpet Concerto by Haydn, certainly well played by Helmut Wobisch, featured as the primary selection of this CD? And secondly, the transfer from the original LP could have been considerably enhanced to 4/5(4).
  8. The Haydn performance has become my favourite, ahead of, among others Andre, Marsalis, Schwarz and Wallace. Recorded versions of the Neruda and Humphries pieces are not common. This set of performances has been released several times on different labels-I'm aware of it being released on MCA, Pickwick, Imp Classics, Carlton and Regis/5(3).
