  2. I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent.

  5. If And Then There Were Three suggested that Genesis were moving toward pop, Duke is where they leaped into the fray. Not that it was exactly a head-first leap: the band may have peppered the album with pop songs, but there was still a heavy dose of prog, as the concluding "Duke" suite made clear.8/
  6. Duke is the tenth studio album from the English rock band Genesis, released in March on Charisma Records. Duke is one of Genesis' groundbreaking albums and their biggest selling one after stripping down to the threesome of Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford.
  7. "Heathaze" was written by Tony Banks and recorded for Genesis' LP Duke. A ballad in a similar vein to "Afterglow," it possesses a unique climate. The lyrics tell of a man caught in his dreams, incapable of seizing the day ("Chances slip away, a time will come to pass/When there'll be none).
  8. Album Rating: Nice review. However, I don't have the same opinion of most of you about the qulity of the album. I'm a great fan of Genesis. Probably it's my favoutite band of the 70's. So, I'm perfectly comfortble to talk about their albums. In relation to Duke, I don't consider it one of their best or even a great album, but only a good work.
